Into the Woods...Part I

Dress - H&M

There's something dark yet dreamy feeling about a long black chiffon dress... as if I'm floating,
moving through space with the flowing motion of the skirt.

The princess of a dark fairy tale, if you will...

Pure coincidence! True fashion friends.

I don't blog very much about men's fashion, but it's the first ever New York Men's Fashion Week.  History in the making!
Of course I felt it appropriate to keep my look basic and *ahem* men's inspired.
It's time for the boys to take the spotlight.

Here are some looks from the Timo Weiland and Edinger Apparel SS16 presentations.
I am loving that men's fashion is finally getting the attention it deserves.  So much creativity to be shared.

And so many male models to be seen.

PS.  Ran into the guys from Public School NY and they were super cool and made my day.  Obviously.  Love their stuff!!

Lace Dress

Dress - Topshop
Gladiator sandals - Stuart Weitzman

I took a stroll in the Central Park Conservatory Garden, it's a little ways uptown but one of those places that you realize is so worth the little trek once you get up there.   Living in New York City, we forget that there are acres of peaceful gardens and sprawling lawns right in the middle of it all.  If you're in the city, I highly recommend you take a visit there this summer and stroll through the beautifully flower-lined paths.

I love this sheer little embroidered number.  Feels like summer, looks like summer.  Super light, you feel pretty as soon as you slip it on.  And the gladiators - another pair that are instant fab to any outfit, plus comfort.  They are definitely an investment purchase but I wear them all summer, and people compliment the shoes left and right! No regrets with this pair.

Dress - Haute Hippie

Happy July! Finally, we are in the peak of summer.  I always wonder whether it's the warming temps themselves that make us love this season, or the nostalgia associated with the months we were let out of school to do whatever our hearts desired.  Rollerblading, bike riding, sand castles at the beach, 'Steal the Bacon' on the lawn! The days... smartphone app and #hashtag free.
We are also welcomed to this month with a much-awaited long weekend filled with barbecues and fireworks, beaches and pool-side lounging.  You can almost smell the searing of steak and wings on the grill as the month turns.

Clearly the important question for this soon-approaching weekend is: What am I going to wear?! Stars? Stripes? Red, white, blue...all of the above?!
I've chosen a selection of perfectly patriotic summer dresses fit for this weekend of July 4th festivities.  I'm not one for flag shirts, but I will certainly sport some stripes and a color-themed palette.

Enjoy the weekend! xoxo

Day to Night Styling

Skirt - Haute Hippie
Sleeveless coat - Topshop
Bodysuit - H&M
Necklace - Gorjana
Arm Cuff - Tsui Yen Chen

Though today the temps are topping the thermometers, lately this weather has been all over the place.  Dressing appropriately can be tricky, and this sleeveless coat/vest/whatever-you-wanna-call-it trend has been on repeat for me.  As always, layering is key for accommodating to changing climates.
Not only is the sleeveless coat versatile for this 80-to-60 degree weather, it's great for swapping from a day-to-night look.  Working in so many different fields - healthcare, fashion, dance - I've had to run from one place to the next dressed very differently, and because of this, versatility and quick-changes have become one of my fortes.
Go sans-vest and switch flats for heels.. and you have a totally new look with essentially, the same pieces- and minimal fuss.  Because who needs fuss in this heat?
